I was having an amazing coaching call with a badass client this morning who has been having trouble with objections in her coaching calls.
She keeps having these powerful conversations with her dream clients — which receive SO much out of the call, they are a HELL YES… until they get to the end of the session.
Then they pull out all the objections in the book— “it’s too much money, I don’t have enough time, I want to do it on my own, I feel uncomfortable taking that money away from my family, I am doing another course…” blah blah blah, you name it.
Bullshit excuses, upon excuses, upon excuses!!
The PROBLEM is that my client was BUYING INTO these prospects stories.
Like Grant Cardone says— you are either selling THEM or you are being SOLD.
She was completely buying into their stories as to why they can’t purchase and enroll into her program. Believing that their stories were valid/true/understandable. And then feeling guilty for even asking for the sale!!
WTF.
I shared with her that first she NEEDS to be much more SOLD on the program than the client does!!
It takes lighting the fire within and mustering up every courageous bone in your body when it comes to challenging them on their objections — and leading them powerfully into a perspective shift that helps the client see that “the reason they can’t is the reason they must” (thanks Alex J Moscow)
It is hard to have this kind of uncomfortable conversation with someone
But ultimately the purpose of it is to help them step into their future and use the program as a way to get there
So them saying no to the program really means they are saying NO to their dreams
Plus what she needs to do is not only help them to see through their own objections— but also to light her own fire within— for WHY they need to enroll in her program in the first place..
Sales is NOT about having a fancy strategy or script that will help you close prospective clients, although it will HELP…
What it REALLY is about is your level of PASSION and FIRE about TRANSFORMING BOTH YOUR OWN LIFE AND THE CLIENTS AS WELL… and being able to communicate in such a way that the client is completely enrolled in their vision and can see clearly how YOU ARE THE PERSON to help them do exactly the thing they are wanting to do.
Let me explain…
If you’re making less than $10,000 per month in your coaching business and you ultimately want to be making that much or more
Then what you need to do is simple.
Stop being so nice
And start getting fired up about YOUR OWN FUCKING TRANSFORMATION FIRST
I know you really want to help people and all..
But really underneath that is your desire to change your life
Why else would you have become a coach?
Your coaching practice is the perfect container and vehicle for your own personal evolution and growth
It is meant to challenge you to face all your fears and get massively outside of your comfort zone
So where are you playing small?
Where are you NOT feeling uncomfortable?
Sometimes it means talking some real shit with people you are doing enrollment conversations with.
Are you giving them your all?? Are you taking a stand for them AND THEIR DREAMS?? Or are you letting them off the hook, only to go back to their miserable lives where they falsely believe they can make these changes themselves or that it is magically just going to “happen” for them one day?!
The fucking truth is that they are on the phone with you or sitting in front of you because they DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT THEIR PROBLEM
It is up to you to show them EXACTLY WHAT STEPS they’re going to need to take with you to SOLVE IT.
It is up to you to show them EXACTLY HOW your product, program or service can SOLVE THEIR PROBLEM.
And illuminate the gap between where they are and where they want to be.
Your program is the BRIDGE, the ANSWER, the SOLUTION to getting there.
That’s it.
At the end of the day — it really only comes down to this truth.
Did they believe that they HAD to have your product or service in order to solve their problem? Did they get to know, like and trust you so that they can 100% believe you?
Did you help them overcome their own objections like a boss?
They NEED YOU to HELP THEM OVERCOME their own fears, doubts, and limitations in this conversation, so that you can actually help them overcome their REAL problem.
Make sense?
The reason that they tell you they can’t do your program— is also usually the reason they have the presenting problem in the first place.
How you do one thing is how you do everything.
Having a deeper level enrollment conversation helps the client to see their objection for what it is: a smokescreen for a deeper level problem.
They are probably just scared, they don’t know what to do, and they don’t know if you can help them solve it.
Which is why objections are never about you in the first place, which is why you should never take them personally.
They simply just reveal a deeper level of truth that you have yet to explore with them.
A powerful coach illuminates this for the client.
A masterful coach helps them to move past it.
Typically the objections that you receive from your clients are usually the ones that you haven’t completely overcome yourself.
So if you’re receiving the same ones over and over again— it’s up to you to go deeper within yourself to discover, what is it that I’m really afraid of here? What is it that I am actually not sold on? Where are the cracks within my own belief system that is allowing these people to show up in my experience with limitations? What limitations am I allowing myself to believe?
And most powerfully— how can I use this to uplevel my own mindset and how is this serving my growth?
Sales is really just one big mind game.
In order to be successful, it really just comes down to your BELIEF, your fire, your passion for what you’re doing as you listen & effectively communicate what they need to hear as you lead your client through your sales process from start to finish.
You can’t overcome objections if you aren’t willing to grow and get uncomfortable
Plus it’s the only way to make more money!!
If you’re getting NO’s from your leads much more than you’re getting YES’s…
