Trusting The Plan For Your Life

Do you feel as if there is a plan for your life?

For as long as I can remember I have been searching for this purpose, this reason WHY I’m here on this planet.

I’ve felt called to create something greater and to help make an impact in people’s lives — but for a long time I didn’t know what that looked like or how I was going to do that.

When I first understood this assignment, I was terrified.  I was afraid of what other people would think.  I was afraid of failing. But most of all, I was afraid of NEVER living into my dreams and being unsatisfied forever.

This is one of the biggest drivers for me in my business.  I am so afraid of getting to the end of my life and thinking, “I wish I would have done xyz.”

I am so afraid of regretting NOT taking the big chances.  I am so afraid of NOT taking risks or doing the things in this life that make me happy.

At the beginning of my senior year at Virginia Tech, I attended several career fairs to look at potential future job opportunities.  I didn’t come away with interviews or a job… I came away with DREAD that THIS was my future?!?  I couldn’t imagine a life where I had to slave away at some job I hated for 40 years only to reach retirement age all shriveled up and unsatisfied.  I decided right then and there to find a DIFFERENT WAY.

I’ve taken the road less traveled.  I’ve been unconventional and done things that the average person who’s comfortable settling just wouldn’t do.

I understand that is not the norm… but for me?  That is what I HAD to do.  I HAD to follow what I understood to be God’s plan for my life.

I continue to believe that everything that happens in my life is for a reason.

Even all the bad shit.

And I have been through some difficult shit.

Even through all of the hardships and pain…what has been important for me is that I keep on believing and having faith that this is “the plan.”  If there is something I am confused about or something I don’t understand, it’s simply because I don’t have all the pieces of the puzzle yet.

How about you?

Do you believe that there is a plan for your life?  Do you believe God put you here for a reason?

You might be at the beginning of your journey with this, and that’s okay.  The one thing that has made the biggest difference for me on my journey is simply to TRUST THE PLAN.

What does that mean exactly?

Trusting the Plan means tuning in each day to listen to what God has for you.  Listening to your inner guide, your inner truth, the voice of your higher self who loves you, who wants the best for you, and is guiding you along this path.

Trusting the Plan means following through on taking action bringing that Vision into reality.  We might not always know what is going to happen in the future.  Yet even in the face of the unknown, we must take the next right step in the journey.

Sometimes this is just ONE THING each day.  One small step.  Knowing and trusting and believing that all will be shown to you along the way.

Trusting the Plan means that when you have those voices of fear, doubt, worry, and indecision creep in… you DON’T allow them to dominate.  Notice I said “WHEN.” We are human.  We all have anxieties and concerns.  No one likes the unknown.  But it’s learning how to navigate these things when they come up.

When this happens to me, I acknowledge this part of me that is afraid.  I comfort and reassure her.  I let this part of me know that she is safe, she is loved, she is taken care of.  I let her know that everything is working out for our highest and best good.

I redirect my energy away from negative emotions and towards TRUST.  I let go.

I ask God for guidance.  I ask God for help.  I thank God for always being there for me and I let go of all of the negative feelings and emotions that are contrary to these beliefs.

This is central to my faith and my relationship with God as a Christian.  I believe that I truly can cast my burdens and anxieties on Him and He will protect me.

Even if you’re not a Christian, you can still practice radical faith and radical trust, however there is one caveat here:

You must believe that the Plan for your life is GOOD.

I found for me one of the biggest questions I had, and one of the fears I experienced (and sometimes still do) — is “what if God’s plan for my life is not as big or wonderful or grand as I want it to be?”

My ego gets in the way of letting go when I think that I need to be in control.  When I’m not trusting God’s plan, I’m trying to direct everything in my life in order for me to be happy.

This one is a tricky one!  It has taken me years to trust that the plan for my life is good, because I’ve experienced so much PAIN and hardship.

What I’ve learned is that even through the hardest things, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.  Even if it’s very weak and I can barely see it.

These are the hardest times to trust and have faith, but that is how I’ve gotten through the hardest times.

I’ve gotten through enough hard things to recognize that when I just let go and trust— that His plan IS GOOD, and it is WAY BETTER than anything I can ever imagine for myself.

I will admit, it is still a bit difficult for me to believe this sometimes, but I’m a work in progress.  I ask God for more faith, more trust, more belief in Him.

I believe the Vision I have for my life comes directly from God.

I take action on that Vision.

I let go of any worries, anxieties, fears, and concerns of HOW that’s going to happen.

I trust that the Plan for my life is good — as long as I keep listening, taking action, and having faith that it’s all working out in my favor.

This is how I keep stepping into greater and greater versions of myself.  This is how I keep achieving my goals and dreams.

I lean in.  I listen.  I trust and have faith.

I do NOT have everything figured out.

In fact, if there is one thing you take away from this blog today is this:

If you can be OKAY with NOT having everything figured out…

If you can TRUST that there is WISDOM in the unknown…

If you can BELIEVE and take action ANYWAYS…

You will be that much closer to bringing your dreams to life.

You will have peace in your heart and actually enjoy the process.

You will relax knowing that everything you desire is on its way to you — and if that doesn’t show up, you trust and believe that God has something even better for you.

Know that you DESERVE it and you CAN do this.

If you need any help along the way, know that I’m here to support you.

Love,

xo Lauren
